Calligraphy: It Started With #ShowMeYourDrills and #ShowMeYourLetters Challenge!

Irenespiration ShowMeYourLetters Calligraphy

It was that morning when I saw my colleague unpacking his package and modern calligraphy books came out from that cardboard box. It said “Modern Calligraphy” on the cover and was written with a set of beautiful, flowy, and thin-to-thick strokes letters. From that day, I was intrigued of the subject and my search of how I could learn that beautiful hand-lettering began.

First I went to the San Francisco Public Library, borrowed a book and also ordered two top-rated/reviewed hand-lettering books on Amazon. When I received the books and started to read, I was more confused than I was before. Most of the books turned out aren’t reaaallllyyyy beginner friendly. Authors tend to lay down tools, few basic strokes, and jump right into the letters. Or they give DIY or craft ideas that we can do with calligraphy. I don’t think this method will be effective enough for me. However, this might work for colleague since he has a background in traditional calligraphy.

Then, I stumbled upon The Happy Ever Crafter and her free workshop on letter drills for a month. She emphasizes over and over again the importance of doing drills for a WHOLE MONTH. At first I was hesitant but I chose to trust her. But hey, it turned out that she is right! I don’t think I will be able to write like in the picture for less than two weeks if she doesn’t encourage all of us to start from doing the drills! 🙂

If you are like me, a beginner, with no background, and want to learn modern calligraphy, check her online class! It is worth it 👍 .

To my colleague, Carlos: Thank you again for inspiring me to do this and gave me constructive feedback on how I can improve ♥️

Sugar Bear Hair: First Month, Does It Really Work?

By on Saturday, January 27, 2018

I have never really been a fan of drinking vitamin before. They are chunky, tasteless, and stinky (sometimes). I still have a bottle of multivitamin in my cabinet that I purchased from Cost Co but never really have the desire to drink it, though I know that it is good for my health. Not until this advertisement by Sugar Bear Hair popped up in my social media account.

I like those pictures that everyone posted on Instagram. I enjoy the video content that every influencer makes it. They really make me think that if I take this, my hair will be like them. Eventhough I know it is a part of their convincing marketing strategies, I also want my hair longer, healthier, shinier, and stronger at the roots too because they start to fall out tremendously. I browsed around online whether other people have positive experience with Sugar Bear Hair. I found out that most people do have positive experience with it. That’s it, I am sold *proceed checkout*.

101 Things in 1,001 Days

By on Sunday, July 24, 2016

This post was inspired by a long-lost friend I knew from Twitter. Her name is Awen (oh, how I miss those old Twitter-ing days!), She is someone that I consider much talented in the way she expresses things through words. Beautiful, thought-provoking, and empowering at the same time. I once did this list few years back then and successfully accomplished more than some of my goals. Since then, things have changed. I have grown up. My thoughts process has evolved and new dreams are formed. I thought I would want to give it another go this time.

After much consideration and thought, here are the things I want to accomplish within these 1,001 days!
